About me

Maxwell Alemán is a conservatory-trained violist and music educator with international training in both performance and pedagogy. He earned his BM in Music Education and Viola Performance summa cum laude from Ithaca College and his MM from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

His pedagogical training and professional résumé span from preschool education to academia, integrating advanced performance studies, music theory, historically-informed performance practice, and principles of body awareness into his teaching. His approach is shaped by more than a decade of international performance experience and enriched by interdisciplinary specializations in the Alexander Technique, Body Mapping, the Suzuki Method, and Karen Tuttle’s Coordination Method.

Alemán places particular emphasis on outreach and individualized learning, with extensive experience working with children and adolescents across diverse neurodivergent profiles and in multilingual settings. His teaching prioritizes technical precision, analytical mindfulness, and sustainable physical and mental engagement at the instrument. Ultimately, this aims to support long-term artistic development and a holistic journey of music-making.
