About me

Xin He is a freelance horn player based in Ellicott City, MD. Xin has performed extensively throughout the U.S., most recently having played in the New World Symphony for three seasons. She has spent summers at the Spoleto Festival, Tanglewood Music Center, National Repertory Orchestra, Sarasota Music Festival and the National Orchestral Institute + Festival. She was also a fellow at the New York String Orchestra Seminar. She has performed with groups such as the Rochester Philharmonic and Hartford Symphony as a substitute musician. In addition to her horn playing, Xin has had an online studio comprising of students of all ages and experiences since 2018 and has taught with the Baltimore Symphony’s OrchKids program, based on El Sistema, where she provided lessons and assisted with brass class and ensembles. Her audition successes include being a runner-up to the Virginia Symphony’s 1-year Utility horn position in 2026, a super finalist for Naples 2nd/Associate Horn in 2026, a finalist for San Diego’s 4th Horn in 2024, and a finalist for St. Louis Symphony’s 2nd Horn in 2023. Xin graduated with a master of music degree from the Yale School of Music in 2023 under the tutelage of William Purvis and a bachelor of music degree from the Eastman School of Music in 2020 under Peter Kurau. Her other teachers include William VerMeulen, Maura McCune-Corvington and former New World Symphony Fellow Larry Williams.
