Violin is one of the most rewarding instruments to learn — and one where a great teacher makes the biggest difference. Our online violin teachers work with beginners on posture, bow hold, and intonation from day one, and support advanced players preparing for auditions, exams, and orchestral work.

Bachelor of Music in Music EducationMaster of Music in Music Education

I have a Master of Music degree in Music Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and 14 years of full-time teaching experience. I have taught online almost exclusively since 2023. My teaching philosophy is that music is for everyone. I like to break skills down step-by-step so you feel comfortable when it's time to combine them. Students say I am patient and meet them at their level. I can't wait to teach you!

Online violin lessons — FAQs

Can violin technique really be taught online?+

Yes. Two well-placed camera angles (one on your bow arm, one on your left hand) give your teacher a clearer view than most in-person lessons. Your teacher will help you set this up in the first lesson.

What size violin do I need?+

Adults use a full-size (4/4) violin. Children typically start on 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 depending on arm length — your teacher can measure remotely and recommend the right size before you buy or rent.

How much do online violin lessons cost?+

Violin lessons on Musably typically range from $30 to $80 per hour. Many teachers hold conservatoire degrees and orchestral experience — filter by credentials to find your fit.

Do you teach the Suzuki method?+

Several of our teachers are Suzuki-trained, and others use ABRSM, Trinity, or Russian-school approaches. You can search for the method you want on our teacher listing.

How do I get started?+

Take the matching quiz or browse violin teachers, pick a time, and book a free trial lesson. Your teacher will assess your level and set up a plan on the trial call.
